Integrate your blog with social networks

From the previous post, you have already learned how to chose or design a template for your blog. In this post I want to describe how to integrate various social networks with your blog.
What is meant by integration? When you publish a new post in your blog or site, it will be automatically redirected or published to your social networking profiles by means of a short link. For example, Check out this blog's facebook page and twitter. I never posted directly into those social networks. Instead I used a third party application. Social networking is the process of participating in organized community building websites like facebook, twitter, myspace, friendfeed, linkedin, hellotxt etc. Social networks are the best way to follow your favorite blog or website. So, how to integrate various social networks to your blog?

Before continue to the process, you need to sign up for two major services.
Google's feedburner (you can sign in with your google account if you have one) and
Twitterfeed (A third party application).

When you log into your feedburner account, burn a new feed by entering your blog or site url in the required field and complete next few steps and you are done. Don't forget to note your blog rss feed address. Or go to Edit Feed details, there you can find original(rss) feed.

If you are using blogger as your blogging platform then the feed looks like this
http://yourblog.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default
or otherwise it will look like
http://www.yourblog.com/?feed=rss2 or http://www.yourblog.com/feed/rss/

Copy that rss feed adress and save it somewhere else.

Now go to twitterfeed and sign up for an account. Twitterfeed now offering mainly four services. But I'm sure there will be more in the future. Now create a new feed. In the step 1, you have to enter your rss feed adress and a feedname whatever it may be. You can create services later. Click all done.

 

Now,
Integrate your blog with facebook page:
Login to facebook account. Create a fan page for your blog using this link. See visit2blog facebook page for reference. Now go to the feed which you have created in twitterfeed. Click edit and create a facebook service in the step 2. Authenticate your facebook account with twitterfeed. After authenticating your facebook account, select your page in the given field so that the posts will be published to your page. Otherwise posts will be published as your profile status. Now Click create service. Your facebook service is created. 

 

Integrate your blog with twitter:
Create a new twitter account for your blog or use existing twitter account to integrate with your blog.
Now create a new twitter service in your twitterfeed.
Authenticate your twitter account. That's it. Click create service. 

 

Integrate your blog with hellotxt:
Create a new account in hellotxt. Go to tools and applications. See or search for twitterfeed. Make that feature(application) enabled. Copy the user_key code. Now go to twitterfeed. Now create a hellotxt service in twitterfeed. Enter your key there. You are done. 

 

Integrate your blog with friendfeed:
Login to your friendfeed account. Go to settings. From services select Custom RSS/Atom URL.
Enter your RSS feed url there. All done for friendfeed. 

 

Integrate your blog with linkedin:
Sign into your linkedin account. Go to your profile. Click edit profile. Enter your twitter username in the given feild. Update your profile. All done.

From now on, integrating remaining networks with your blog is easy. You know how? If you have already integrated hellotxt, then add remaining applications(social networks) in hellotxt. All your posts will be published to those networks. Add Myspace, orkut, buzz, hi5 and so on.. Enjoy.
